Look up specifications

If you photograph an appliance with a known brand and model, Teamdock can look up its specifications on the internet for you. You see every fact it found with the page it came from. You tick what is right; only that goes onto the product.

The Look up specifications button is on the product card in the photoshoot and in Import files, with your shop’s attributes (in the photoshoot under More details ▾). The feature is labelled Trial and is not available in every workspace. If you don’t see the button, it is not switched on for your workspace.

Teamdock searches by brand and model. It takes these from your shop’s attributes: a global attribute called Brand (or Merk), and one called Model, Type, Modelnummer or Typenummer. If your shop does not have these attributes yet, create them in WooCommerce under Products → Attributes.

  1. Fill in Brand and Model on the card. Fill in the Title too (for example “Glass washer”): it helps find the right kind of appliance.
  2. Click Look up specifications. This takes half a minute to a minute.
  3. You get a list of facts. Each fact shows its source. Facts from the manufacturer’s site, and facts someone on your team took over for this model before, are already ticked. You judge the rest yourself.
  4. Tick what is right, and untick what is not.
  5. Click Take over ticked.

After taking over, Teamdock tells you what happened: how many facts went into fields, how many into the notes as specifications, and how many for the running text.

Each fact shows where it goes:

  • → field …: it goes into a field on the card, such as one of your shop’s attributes.
  • … is already filled: stays as is: what you have already filled in is never overwritten.
  • → notes: it goes into Features & notes as a specification, and from there into the description’s specification list.
  • → into the text: facts under For the description are worked into the running text.
  • your own measurements apply: you always measure dimensions yourself; they are not taken over.
  • No specifications found: nothing was taken over. Check how the model is spelled.
  • Did you perhaps mean one of these?: click a model to put it in the Model field and click Search again.
  • Know a page about this model? Paste the link and click Read this page. That page is read first. If it is not about this model, the usual search runs. Here too, nothing reaches the product until you tick it.
  • Treat this kind of fact as…: on a fact, choose Specification, For the text or Do not show. That choice applies to every product from then on. Forget choice resets it. Facts you set to Do not show can still be viewed at the bottom.
  • What you take over for a brand and model is remembered. For the next unit of the same model, those facts are already ticked as taken over before.

Under Prices elsewhere you see, for comparison, the prices that were on the pages found at the time of the lookup. A price is never filled in.

Below the result you see how many searches it took. If the model was looked up before, you see Looked up before: this cost nothing now. Search again searches anew anyway.
