Shop hosted by Teamdock
If you choose Add WordPress hosting when you sign up, Teamdock creates a WordPress site with WooCommerce for you. It runs separately from other customers, is already connected to your workspace and is set up for a Dutch shop. This page explains what is ready for you and what you still do yourself.
Your addresses
Section titled “Your addresses”- Your shop:
yourname.teamdock.ai/wp. Want your own domain? See Custom domain for your shop. - The WordPress admin:
yourname.teamdock.ai/wp/wp-admin. - Your workspace:
yourname.teamdock.ai.
The welcome email contains a link to set the password of your WordPress administrator. The link is valid for 14 days. If it has expired, use Lost your password? on the WordPress login page.
What is already set up for you
Section titled “What is already set up for you”- WooCommerce for the Netherlands: store country the Netherlands, prices in euros, and the Dutch VAT rates (standard, reduced and zero).
- Shipping: the default zone has Afhalen (pickup, free) and Bezorging (delivery) at a flat €5.95. That amount is an example: change it under WooCommerce → Settings → Shipping.
- In-store payment methods: Contant (cash) and PIN (card) are switched on, but only for orders you create yourself (in Teamdock or in wp-admin). Online buyers don’t see them.
- Legal pages: empty placeholder pages for the privacy policy, return policy and terms and conditions. Fill them in yourself under Pages in WordPress.
- Email: your shop’s emails (such as order confirmations) are sent for you. You don’t need an SMTP plugin.
- The Teamdock plugins for checkout, design, pallet shipping, quotes and product data. See Teamdock WordPress plugins.
What your shop does at checkout
Section titled “What your shop does at checkout”This lives in the Teamdock Core plugin, which is on every hosted shop. It works the same whichever design you choose.
- EU VAT number with a VIES check. Buyers in the EU see the field BTW / EU VAT number. The number is checked straight away in VIES, the EU’s VAT database. If it is valid, the buyer can take over the company name and address from VIES with one click.
- Reverse charge. A business buyer who bills in another EU country than your store country, with a valid VAT number from that same country, pays no VAT. A buyer from your own country always pays VAT, even with a valid number. When the order is placed, the shop checks the number once more.
- KvK number. An optional KvK-nummer field (8 digits). Teamdock uses it to complete the company details on the invoice. See Invoices.
- Phone required for shipping. If the order has to be shipped, a phone number is required. Not for pickup.
- Address from postcode and house number. For a Dutch address the buyer enters postcode and house number; street and town are then filled in.
- VAT next to the price. On the product page, the price is followed by “Incl. BTW” or “Excl. BTW”, depending on your WooCommerce setting.
- Invoice in My account. Once an invoice has been sent for an order, your customer sees a button to open it among their orders in My account.
Emails to your customers
Section titled “Emails to your customers”When Teamdock changes the status of an order, for example when you mark an order as paid or create one in Teamdock, WooCommerce does not send an extra email about it. Teamdock handles that communication itself (invoice, quote, pickup message). Customers that Teamdock creates for you also don’t get WordPress’s standard “account created” email. Orders a customer places in the shop themselves get the normal WooCommerce emails.
What you do yourself in WordPress
Section titled “What you do yourself in WordPress”You are the administrator of your own WordPress. In wp-admin you can do everything you are used to in WooCommerce, such as:
- setting up payment methods, for example Mollie for online payment;
- changing shipping zones and rates;
- writing and editing pages;
- choosing settings such as guest checkout (WooCommerce → Settings → Accounts & Privacy).
Products, orders and customers are easiest to manage in Teamdock itself. You change how your shop looks with Website design.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”Does Teamdock back up my hosted shop? Yes. Your shop’s database and your files (such as product photos) are included in the nightly backup.
Can I install my own WordPress theme or plugin? Yes, you are the administrator. Do keep the Teamdock plugins active. If you later publish a design with Website design, it replaces the theme that is active at that moment. The previous theme is kept, so you can put it back.
