DACHSER

With the DACHSER connection you ship pallets by DACHSER road groupage (targo) on your own DACHSER contract. Teamdock asks for the freight price, books the shipment, prints the label on your shipping label printer, follows the tracking and fetches the proof of delivery. In Teamdock DACHSER is meant for pallets; Teamdock does not ask DACHSER for a price for loose parcels.

You can use DACHSER as your main setup (Own carriers) or as an extra carrier for exceptions next to Picqer, Sendcloud or None. See Connecting carriers.

Detail Where to find it
API key In the DACHSER API portal (api-portal.dachser.com). The key needs subscriptions to the quotation, transportorder, shipmentstatus and pod APIs. A key can work for one API and not for another; request all four.
Customer number (consignor) 8 digits, on your DACHSER invoice or in eLogistics. Needed to book. For prices only it may stay empty; DACHSER then uses its standard rates. Filled in, you get your own contract rate.
Branch (forwarder) The DACHSER branch (3 digits) that collects your goods. Needed to book.

Teamdock takes your sender address from your company details under Settings → Account → Legal entity. Check that address before you book for the first time.

  1. Go to Settings → Shipping → Carriers.
  2. Choose your setup. As the main setup: Own carriers; DACHSER is then in the Booking through Teamdock block. Under another setup DACHSER is in the Extra carrier for exceptions block.
  3. Click Connect on DACHSER. DACHSER API portal opens the portal in a new tab.
  4. Fill in the fields:
    • API key
    • Customer number (consignor) and Branch (forwarder)
    • Products: DACHSER product codes, comma separated (Y = targoflex). Teamdock asks one price per product.
    • Default product: the product pre-selected when booking.
    • Terms of delivery: the DACHSER code, 031 unless your contract says otherwise.
    • Label format: PDF or ZPL (Zebra). ZPL is only used when your shipping label printer is the ZPL label printer; otherwise you get PDF.
    • When booking: see below.
    • Only ask DACHSER for prices outside the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg: on by default. Turn it off if you also want to be able to use DACHSER within the Benelux.
  5. Click Connect. Teamdock first checks the key with DACHSER and reports DACHSER connected — the key works.

The key is stored encrypted. To change something later, click Manage, adjust the fields and click Save. Leave •••••• in the key field to keep the current key. Test connection checks at any time that the key still works.

When booking: label first, or send at once

Section titled “When booking: label first, or send at once”
  • Create the label — send to DACHSER later (can still be checked): Teamdock creates the transport order and the label, but does not send the order to DACHSER yet. The order shows Send to DACHSER. Until then you can still cancel the shipment.
  • Create the label and send to DACHSER at once: the order goes to DACHSER immediately. Cancelling from Teamdock is then no longer possible.

DACHSER allows 500 price requests and 1000 bookings a day per key. Teamdock only asks when you request a price or book, and the order form asks by itself at most once per cart and destination.

In the order form, the Carrier freight price block appears under shipping when DACHSER is connected and the destination applies.

  1. Add the products and fill in the delivery address, with postcode. Without a postcode you see Fill in the delivery postcode to get a freight price.
  2. As the main setup, Teamdock asks for the price by itself once the form settles. As an extra carrier you click Get freight price.
  3. You see a price per product, for example “targoflex — €187.50”. Click a price to use it as the order’s shipping.
  4. If the cart or the address has changed, click Ask again.

The chosen price and the pallets are stored with the order. You see that price again when you book.

If there is no price, the reason is shown, for example This order needs no pallets — no carrier price needed. or No carrier price for this destination. Sometimes DACHSER does not calculate a price itself and sends a proposal, or you need to contact your DACHSER branch; that is then shown under the option.

You book on the order, in the Shipping card, in the Carrier part. Booking needs the Full permission on Shipping, and a filled-in customer number and branch.

  1. Open the order and click Book shipment under Carrier.
  2. Check Carrier and Product. A carrier rule may already have made a choice.
  3. Choose the Pickup date. By default that is the next working day.
  4. Under Pallets and packages, check every line: Type (Euro pallet, Half pallet, Block pallet, Other pallet or Parcel), Qty, L cm, W cm, H cm and kg each. If no pallets are recorded on the order, add them here.
  5. Tick if needed: Tail lift at delivery and Delivery notice. With a delivery notice the recipient’s phone number and e-mail address go to DACHSER.
  6. Click Book.

After booking:

  • The label goes to your shipping label printer (see Labels and printers). If there is no shipping label printer, you see No shipping label printer set up — download the label.
  • The tracking number is added as a note to the order in WooCommerce.
  • The shipment is listed under Shipments on the order and on the Shipping page.

Each booked shipment has these buttons:

Button What it does
Reprint label Sends the label to the shipping label printer again.
Download label Downloads the label as a file.
Send to DACHSER Only with “label first”: sends the order to DACHSER. After that nothing can be changed or cancelled.
Cancel shipment Cancels the shipment at DACHSER, as long as it has not been sent.
Proof of delivery After delivery: downloads the proof of delivery (PDF).

Every hour Teamdock fetches the status of shipments that have been sent to DACHSER, until they are delivered, and up to 30 days after booking. A shipment that only has a label (not sent yet) is not tracked.

The statuses are Booked, Picked up, In transit, Out for delivery, Delivery attempt failed, Delivered, Problem, Returned and Cancelled. On delivery, a return or a problem, Teamdock adds a note to the order. If you have switched on customer e-mails, your customer hears about it too.

Click Manage and then Disconnect. Shipments already booked stay in Teamdock.

If Picqer is your main setup, the warehouse picks in Picqer and you book the DACHSER shipment in Teamdock. Make sure Picqer does not make its own label then; you set that up once. See Picqer.

  • Getting a price works, but booking, tracking or the proof of delivery gives an error (or the other way round). Your key probably lacks a subscription to that API in the DACHSER portal, for example quotation but not transportorder.
  • Booking fails, getting a price works. Fill in Customer number (consignor) and Branch (forwarder).
  • No price block in the order form. The address is in the Benelux while Only ask DACHSER for prices outside the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg is on, or the order has no pallets.
  • The label did not come out of the printer. Choose a shipping label printer under Settings → Printers & labels → Printers and click Reprint label.
  • The daily limit has been reached. Wait until the next day; don’t ask again more often than needed.
